Vuonna 1979 legendaarisen debyyttialbuminsa julkaissut brittiläinen skapunkin legenda The Specials taisteli jo heti uransa alkumetreiltään lähtien isosti rasismia ja epäoikeudenmukaisuutta vastaan. Vuonna 2019 legendaarinen yhtye palaa isosti ja yhä surullisen ajankohtaisia epäkohtia vastaan taistellen. Vuonna 2008 keikkalavoille palanneen yhtyeen rivit ovat harventuneet sairauksien ja kuolemien johdosta, uunituoreella Encore-levyllä mukana ovat Terry Hall, Lynval Golding ja Horace Panter. Albumi on kerännyt ansoitunutta ylistystä siitäkin huolimatta, että yksi alkuperäisjäsenistä ja primus motor Jerry Dammers ei kauheasti ole tälle comebackille lämmennyt.
Päivän Biisinä kuullaan tyylikkään albumin yksi mielenkiintoisimmista kappaleista 10 Commandments, jolla vokaaliosuuksista vastaa nuori birminghamilainen aktivisti Saffiyah Khan, joka nousi tunnetuksi vastustamalla hymyillen English Defence Leaguen -äärioikeistojohtajaa vuona 2017, The Specials -paidassa.
10 Commandments on ajankohtainen feministinen kannanotto ja samalla The Specials tekee selväksi, että omien idoleidensakin menneisyyden tekosia voi tuomita tyylillä. 10 Commandements on vastine jamaikalaisen ska-legenda Prince Busterin 60-luvun naisvihamieliseen Ten Commandments -kappaleeseen: ”Thou shalt not listen to Prince Buster or any other man offering kindly advice in matters of my own conduct. You may call me a feminazi or a femoid and then see if I give a stinking shit” aloittaa Khan kappaleen.
